Information about Charlotte-Mecklenburg's Homeless Services Network

In Spring 2000, the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners requested that an assessment of homelessness in Mecklenburg County be undertaken. The research and planning necessary to complete the assessment got underway in late July 2000. The County Health Department led the charge, working closely with Carol Morris, the planning consultant commissioned to facilitate the research process and prepare the assessment.

The assessment, summarized in this executive summary, provides a foundation and base of information to help the community determine the next steps for addressing homelessness in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. The task force's top priority for Mecklenburg County was the creation of A Way Home.
